Ballina Electorate Media Releases

Kimberley Kampers Wins Twice At NSW Telstra Business Awards (28/07/2009)

Kimberley Kampers were today congratulated on their outstanding achievements at the NSW Telstra Business Awards by Shadow Minister for Small Business and Member for Ballina, Don Page.

Kimberley Kampers took out two awards at the recent NSW Telstra Business Awards.  They won the Best Medium Business in NSW and the AMP award for Most Innovative Business in NSW.

“Bruce Loxton and his team at Kimberley Kampers are setting an exceptional example to all regional small and medium sized businesses with their ongoing success and recognition,” Mr Page said.

“They are to be congratulated for their commitment to their vision and standards of excellence that has brought them these two prestigious awards.

“Kimberley Kampers’ success is sending a clear message to the NSW Government – that regional businesses are vital to the economic success of NSW and must not be held back by the Rees Labor Government,” he said.

“Under the current State Labor Government, NSW businesses are the highest taxed and the most heavily regulated in Australia,” Mr Page said.

“In addition, regional businesses in NSW carry a higher burden of costs than their metropolitan counterparts due to higher electricity and transport costs,” he said.

There are currently 58 employees working directly for Kimberley Kampers.  There has also been an additional 6 fibreglass contracting positions created locally to service the high demand for Kimberley’s products.

Kimberley Kampers will now go on to the National Awards Ceremony to be held on 20th August where the 2009 Telstra Australian Business of the Year will be announced.

“The Ballina Electorate is also home to the 2007 Telstra Australian Business of the Year winners, Brookfarm who manufacture a variety of value added macadamia and other products.  It is a wonderful testament to the high standard of businesses and innovation we have in this area for another local business to be represented at a national level in 2009,” Mr Page said.

“Regardless of what happens on the 20th August, Kimberley Kampers have made outstanding achievements in Australian manufacturing and market leadership.  They are providing much needed employment and training opportunities in the local community,” he said.

“We are fortunate to have Kimberley Kampers operating in the local Ballina community.  They are setting an outstanding example to the NSW and Australian Business community,” he said.

“I wholeheartedly congratulate Kimberley Kampers on their achievements so far and wish them every success on the 20th August at the National Telstra Business Awards,” Mr Page said.
