Ballina Electorate Media Releases
YMCA NSW Youth Parliament 2010 (27/11/2009)
Member for Ballina, Don Page is encouraging any interested young people to participate in the YMCA NSW Youth Parliament for 2010.
The YMCA NSW Youth Parliament program is a highly prestigious annual forum for young people in NSW to learn about parliamentary processes. The YMCA is currently calling for applications for next year’s program.
Mr Page said the Youth Parliament is open to high school students aged 15 to 18 from all across NSW. Students who are successful in their application develop bills in teams on an issue they would like to debate at Youth Parliament.
Participants attend a training camp over the weekend of April 9th to 11th and a week long camp from July 4th to 9th during which they spend 3 days at NSW Parliament House debating their bills.
2010 will be the ninth year that the Youth Parliament has convened.
“I am confident we will once again see a high standard of young people representing the Ballina Electorate in the chambers of NSW Parliament,” Mr Page said.
Applications open on 30th November 2009 and close 19th February 2010. For more information go to www.ymcasydney.org/youth-parliament.
